On June 9th, America Media and staff were honored with 32 awards from the Catholic Media Association, including writer of the year and podcaster of the year.
America took first place in several categories: Kerry Weber, Executive Editor, Writer of the Year (English); Maggi Van Dorn, Audio Producer, Podcaster of the Year; and J.D. Long-Garcia, Senior Editor, for Best Coverage—Immigration: “Reporting on migrants and refugees.”
America Media was also awarded Best Editorial; Best Interview; Best Book Review Section; Best Freestanding Presentation of Online Video—Feature; Best Freestanding Presentation of Online Video—News; and more.
The Catholic Media Association, which has over 200 member organizations, provides professional development and networking opportunities for journalists and media specialists committed to providing a Catholic perspective. Their annual awards honor the outstanding contributions of Catholic media organizations and individual media producers in the United States and Canada.
