The declaration is contained in "The Hope Within Us," a document released July 23 from the Roman Catholic-United Church of Canada Dialogue in Canada.
Read to the approximately 500 participants at the conference, the letter notes the symbolic value of holding the meeting in Sarajevo and also notes that Pope Francis is simpatico with the goals and themes of the participants.
In a statement July 22, the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa, known by the acronym AMECEA, said the steps taken by the leaders of both countries "show that Africans have the wisdom to solve their own problems amicably."
