Nicaragua’s government has proposed suspending relations with the Vatican days after Pope Francis reportedly compared President Daniel Ortega’s administration to a communist or Nazi dictatorship amid a crackdown on the Catholic Church.

For five years, the government and church of Nicaragua have been at odds over protests and state corruption.

The sides also that said agreements will be reached by consensus and that those agreements will be the foundation of what the talks produce.
