The eldest Sister of Mercy in the world and possibly the oldest living religious died Oct. 25 at the age of 111 at the Convent of Mercy retirement home in Mobile.

His funeral Mass was celebrated in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit at the Campion Center Oct. 29, followed by interment in Campion Center Cemetery.

U.S. Cardinal William J. Levada, former head of the Vatican's doctrinal congregation and retired archbishop of San Francisco and Portland, Oregon, died Sept. 26 in Rome. He was 83.
