Some black men question why police seem to avoid using deadly force on dangerous white suspects but are quick to point a gun at blacks.

The four nuns will be investigated "to determine if there was a canonical crime and help the actions of the civil justice."

The pope's message "can be summarized like so: 'Enough now, enough with this conflict,'" Cardinal Turkson told Vatican Radio on July 20.

"This is the story of Los Angeles, the story of the state of California and the story of our country—which is a nation of immigrants," said Los Angeles Archbishop Jose H. Gomez.

"The pope is sending a message to us! I think that is proof enough, that the love of the church for our poor people is really palpable, it's real."
