These past few days I have had to resist the temptation to pack too early for my trip to San Salvador for the beatification of Archbishop Oscar Romero this weekend (I will be posting updates here from Thursday through Monday).  The news reports, the constant mentions of Romero on social media, and even today's news about Kevin Clarke of this magazine winning an award from the Assocation of Catholic Publishers for his Romero biography—all have increased my anticipation and excitement.

And then a funny thing happened at Maryknoll yesterday. While waiting for the start of an afternoon lecture by ethicist Margaret Farley in the Maryknoll Society Center, I wandered into a room with some Latin American art and religious imagery. And what was on the wall but....

...this painting of Oscar Romero.

Hopefully my picture of that painting appears alongside this post. Truth be told, this entire post is a dry run for this weekend, to make sure I know what I'm doing on this platform. I hope it worked, and I look forward to sharing more with our readers in the days to come.
