With this issue of America we welcome Professor John W. Martens as the new columnist for "The Word." Dr. Martens is Associate Professor of Theology at the University of St. Thomas and director of the Master of Arts program in theology at St. Paul Seminary, both in St. Paul, MN. He teaches courses in new testament studies, Greek language, and the history of early Christianity. We look forward to Dr. Marten's reflections each week, both in print and online.

We also bid a fond farewell to Peter Feldmeier of the University of Toledo, who has been a refreshing voice in our pages for the last few years. Readers have commented on Peter's thoughtful and practical reflections. We are grateful for his contributions and we wish him well. His byline is always welcome.

Happy reading.
