The story of the creation of a new sculpture, Examen, which now stands outside the Egan Chapel of St. Ignatius Loyola, at Fairfield University in Connecticut.  The sculpture is a double triumph: both a clever visual representation of the examen (aka the Ignatian examination of conscience) and a realistic depiction of the saint.  Finally a statue of Ignatius that looks like Ignatius.

Fr. Jim, thank you so much for telling us about this magnificent, compelling work of art.  The sculpture is so evocative of Saint Ignatius andthe Examen.  Congratulations to Fairfield for sponsoring the sculpture and to the artists Joan Benefiel and Jeremy Leichman for their extraordinary achievement.  I really enjoyed the video telling the story of how the sculpture was designed, made and installed.  I saved a picture of the sculpture and will use it in my prayer practice.
