Our online Signs of the Times this week is devoted exclusively to the unfolding disaster in Haiti.

In this overview of the damage inflicted by the earthquake Catholic Relief Services says it is preparing for "thousands and thousands" of dead and injured in the wake of the worst natural disaster to strike Haiti in two centuries.

Meanwhile, the U.S. bishops have instituted a special collection for the victim's of the disaster for this weekend. U.S. Catholics can also donate to the collection for the church in Latin America the weekend of January 23 and 24.

In and around Port-au-Prince, stories of hope and perseverance are emerging amidst the rubble.

Check in tomorrow and next week for updates. And a reminder that you can donate to disaster relief efforts via Catholic Relief Services or Jesuit Relief Services.
