Father Michael Place has just posted his response to our readers comments on his article, "A Time for Reform." You can read them here by scrolling down to comment 15. A taste:

In reading the comments posted to date on my article I am impressed by how they seem to reprise some of what has been said in recent Congressional town hall meetings. Let me begin my addressing Penny Scott's first comment (#2). While it might have been more correct to refer to the “46 million persons living in the United States” without health insurance, this change would not effect the theological evaluation of the situation. Whether a citizen or a documented or undocumented non-citizen, each of these 46 million persons possess the same human dignity. And, according to papal teaching, all 46 million have the same human rights, which include the right of access to health care.

We hope the conversation will continue among our readers, and we encourage everyone to maintain a respectal tone while discussing what has turned out to be a polarizing topic.
