Hidden within a parenthesis deep in Matt Bai’s profile of Newt Gingrich in last week’s New York Times Magazine was the following bit of news:

"A Baptist since graduate school, Gingrich said he will soon convert to Catholicism, his wife’s faith."

Interesting news. Does this mean he will repent from being a warmonger?

I wrote and then erased but still ponder if Gingrich will receive honors like Tony Blair who "cooked the books" to drum up support for the Iraq war; that is, to be invited by a Cardinal in New York to the annual Al Smith dinner to raise money for the poor. 900 billions spent on the war, 5 million homeless, a million killed, and the Cardinal raised 1 million for the homeless from the "cream of society". Is that what becoming "Catholic" got him? Shame!

Since Gingrich is married to a Catholic I imagine his prior marriages have already been addressed.

To be impolitic, which number wife? Have his prior marriages been annulled?
