In my last post on In All Things I mentioned that Time magazine had purchased a house in Detroit so they could cover the city's news up close and personal. The latest blog entry by the Time writers focuses on U of D Jesuit High School and Academy, my alma mater.  The blog writer dubs UD High the last Catholic College Prep school in the city of Detroit. This is not exactly true. There is another Jesuit high school in Detroit called Loyola (go figure!) that focuses on economically disadvantaged students, and last year a Cristo Rey model high school opened on Detroit's southwest side. Still, 3 Catholic high schools in a city that once boasted dozens is a sad statistic. UD High has been a positive presence in the city for decades, and the Jesuit administration made the brave and bold move after the '67 riots to stay in the city when many people (including alumni) were calling for them to make a run for the suburbs.

Reading this blog entry made me very proud to be a graduate of UD Jesuit High.  You can read this uplifting piece here.
