Congrats to America blogger Michael Sean Winters on the release of his new book Left at the Altar: How the Democrats Lost the Catholics and How the Catholics Can Save the Democrats. George Stephanopoulos hosted a book part for Michael last night at his Georgetown home, and the Washington Post was there to report on it. Present were both beltway glitterati like Chris Matthews and E.J. Dionne as well as a sizable contingent from the Washington archdiocese. "This is a distinctly paradoxical group," said New Republic literary editor and Winters’s longtime friend Leon Wieseltier. "Devout Catholics and devout liberals don’t always hang together. That doesn’t mean they are irreconcilable, but it will require a lot of work." See the pictures here. And buy the book here. Tim Reidy
