Boo!
The latest from america
Now that the 133 cardinal electors are ensconced in the SIstine Chapel to elect a successor to Pope Francis, some potential candidates have come to the fore.
When else do we get an opportunity like this, to take someone at this level of leadership at face value?
As the Catholic Church prepares to elect a new leader, the editors of 'America' remember an extraordinary and beloved pontiff: Francis, a pope of monumental surprises.
For these next days of waiting, first and foremost for the cardinals in conclave and then also for all of us: Come, Holy Spirit, bringing wisdom, discernment and patience.
Sent it out to everyone I know who is Catholic and a few others.
On the feast of St. Therese, I was at a Mass at a parish church. The priest related a story about St. Therese, about which I would like verification of the story:
St. Therese had "a Jesuit" spiritual director. She told him that she wanted to be a saint like Teresa of Avila. He told her not to pray for that purpose. She then told him that even Jesus said to be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect. Then he said, "Thank good she did not listen to that priest."
Did not Saint Teresa of Avila warn us not to pray for the gifts, which others receive or received?
JMJ and Saint Ignatius,
Loved the Mother Cabini mantra. :)
Loved the Mother Cabrini prayer, but I think you have a different version from mine: ''Mother Cabrini, don't be a meanie, find me a space in front of the place!'' And then you send her sisters $5 (or $10 if you are in Manhattan) if you find a space!
Thanks for all of your work. Best wishes,
Mary Kate
