Pastors who seek personal gain are not upholding their duty, Pope Francis said.

A new social economy is required to meet the day’s most pressing needs, said Ghanaian Cardinal Peter Turkson.

To conclude the Year of Mercy, Pope Francis will hold celebrations for the imprisoned and people experiencing homelessness.

Msgr. Lucio Vallejo Balda was found guilty on July 7 of stealing and passing on documents to Italian journalists Gianluigi Nuzzi and Emiliano Fittipaldi.

Pope Francis and Zuckerberg spoke about “how communications technology can be used to alleviate poverty, encourage a culture of encounter and help deliver a message of hope.”

The pope said that even those who cannot travel to Poland have the opportunity to be present in prayer for World Youth Day.

“To the extent that the difficulties seem more insurmountable and the prospects of security and peace seem more unclear, our prayer should be more insistent,” he said.

The pope’s message “can be summarized like so: ‘Enough now, enough with this conflict,'” Cardinal Turkson told Vatican Radio on July 20.
