D. J. Waldie is the author of Holy Land: A Suburban Memoir, Where We Are Now, House, and other books. Los Angeles Magazine named him one of the city’s most influential interpreters in 2006. He received the Dale Prize in Urban and Regional Planning in 2017 for his commentaries on the history of suburbanization.
