It was with dismay and disappointment that I read a letter to the editor written by Mr. Rudy Lopez in reaction to an article that I recently wrote for America.

We need more journalism like this from the mainstream media. Good work.

Has the church been wrong on the issue of the death penalty as morally acceptable up to now?

While I appreciate the value of recognizing a rare humanitarian gesture by the Trump administration, this editorial neglects to directly acknowledge U.S. culpability.

I choose to respect the spiritual goodness in all people.
