Pope Francis in Romania

In late May and early June 2019, Pope Francis visited Romania, the largest of the Balkan states and a predominantly Orthodox country. There he met with Orthodox leaders, beatified several bishop-martyrs and—on the plane ride home—called on European Union politicians to be wary of intra-continental conflict.
