This week on “Inside the Vatican,” we look at Pope Francis’ recent comments about homosexuality and religious life. His new book on consecrated life, “The Strength of a Vocation,” is based on a long interview and Pope Francis has a number of quotations that have made headlines around the world.

“The issue of homosexuality is a very serious issue that we need to adequately discern right from the start with the candidates, if that’s the case,” Pope Francis said. “In consecrated life and in priestly life, there is no room for this type of affection. For this reason, the Church recommends that people with this ingrained tendency not be accepted into the ministry or into consecrated life. Their place is not in ministry or in consecrated life.”

He ends the brief section by urging gay consecrated people to live their vows of celibacy.

On this week’s episode, we look at these comments in the context of the pope’s other famous comment on gay priests: “Who am I to judge?” We examine what Pope Francis’ pastoral history with gay and lesbian people can tell us about the intentions behind these new comments.

The question is did he change his mind on respecting The Sanctity of the marital act within The Sacrament of Holy Matrimony by recognizing that which can be known through both Faith and reason.

It is not the Faithful who are responsible for the heinous sex abuse crisis, the cover up of the heinous crime, and the destructive sexual bullying and harassment experienced in various seminaries- it is those who deny The Catholic Church’s teaching on sexual morality which serves out of respect for the inherent Dignity of all persons.

The erroneous notion that private morality and public morality can serve in opposition to one another and are not complementary, has led to grievous error in both Faith and reason.

“If there is a union of a private nature, there is neither a third party, nor is society affected.” - Jorge Bergoglio

“Or know you not, that your members are The Temple of The Holy Ghost, Who Is In you, and you have from God; and you are not your own?” - 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

So "Dignity" can not be found in a personal morality? How do you know that it is not the "Faithful" as you put it, that haven't directly contributed to the state that the Church finds itself in? I believe that you are arguing from a construct that is so arcane that no one pays any attention to it.

The Faithful affirm Christ’s teaching on sexual morality.

“ But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female. And for THIS (singular, proximate, demonstrative) cause, a man shall leave his father and mother; and shall cleave to his wife. And they two shall be in one flesh. Therefore now they are not two but one flesh”, due to the complementary nature of existing in relationship as husband and wife. “What therefore God Hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”

A continuing disaster that mostly involves priests with disordered sexual preferences should open everybody's eyes.

fr martin has zero credibility,
he wags on about inclusion
but does not address doctrine
- and 95% of the priests who abused,
were engaging in homosexual acts.
gay is a disorder not a actual desire,
the gender idenity crusade is swallowing the cultue, one more
lie added to the sexual revolution
and its parhetic results are all over
from church to hollywood to business, n that culture is embraced by 95% of colleges including Catholic. providence college, run by
Dominicans, has waved the white flage innsurrender to the red green yellow orange ( et al) flag of the
gender blending inclusive crazies.
god created man n women , etc

this has nothing to do with charity n
mercy
it is obvious the abuse was homosexual n the deep worry
the pope has is no doubt about that fact

Someone smart and compassionate needs to write an article about the shocking fact that all those “pedophile priests” who were sent away for “treatment” in the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, etc. were primarily subjected to gay conversion therapy, which has been denounced by medical and mental health professionals everywhere...!!!

The paradox at the heart of Christianity is that we must die in order to live again. And few movies witness to that truth like “Romero” (1989).
