There comes a day
When you realize
That some people are temporary.
Nearly 1,000 poems poured in this year for America’s annual Foley Poetry Contest from writers of all ages.
I know not to tell you that one day you’ll be better,
so instead I tell you this:
I know that kind, invisible hand;
I know that touch.
If God were sick, the heart
would swallow itself like a pill
What I thought was a black dog/ curled at one’s feet/ was a backpack with a gun in it.
