Lovely girl in your timeless town,
how can we learn as you did
to yearn for a Savior?
How can we turn to the coming of the spirit
that the knowledge of the Just One
may fill us
“as the waters fill the sea.”
You are no mere girl,
you are a towering woman
whose call for mercy and grace goes before us all,
taking our hearts into that endless night
of hope
in which one light alone can satisfy.
Mary, Virgin and Mother, in this season of
discontent
we beg you
stand beside us, teach us to hope,
lead us to yearn for more than our poor hearts
can hold.
Turn us to see the cruelty toward immigrants,
imprisonment without trial
illnesses that can be healed.
For nothing is impossible to God, Mary,
and that is the faith we pray you to teach us.
