Our nation has an empathy gap.

We have suffered trauma. We may do so again. But we will endure.

We must continue to deliver a timeless education using whatever new tools come to hand.

We must care for those who once cared for us.

The Vatican is calling for a new paradigm of care for older people after what it calls the "massacre" wrought by the coronavirus pandemic, which has disproportionately killed people living in nursing homes.

If we listened more than we lectured, maybe we would find different reasons to arrive at the same behaviors that help us heal.
