The way we talk about the liturgy matters, and to describe something as “irreverent” assumes a level of malicious intent on the part of worshipers that other terms do not.
The homily should be part of an active relationship between preacher and parish. None of us, speaking or listening, should stop trying to improve the experience.
Suppressing all elements of the Latin Mass would alienate Catholics who desire the reformed liturgy but also seek the rich liturgical elements of the centuries-old Tridentine celebration.
