Project Hope

Location: Roxbury, Mass.


For the last 30 years, Project Hope has been led by Sister Margaret Leonard, an incredibly accomplished nonprofit leader who has brought unending compassion, commitment, energy and spirituality to her work and, most importantly, hope and opportunity to the residents of the Dudley Street neighborhood.  As a community resident who remains committed to achieving Project Hope’s mission, Sister Margaret wants to continue to serve as a resource to the organization and the next executive director after her retirement which is due to take place in 2015.


Profile of the Ideal Candidate


Project Hope offers prospective candidates the opportunity to lead a mission-driven and highly respected community-based organization with a consistent understanding of what it does, who it serves and how it engages with its clients.  Clear priorities for the new executive director include adeptly navigating the organization through its first leadership transition in thirty years; expanding and promoting outcomes as a means to promote Project Hope’s work; transitioning and expanding external relationship to sustain Project Hope financially; and refining Project Hope’s strategic focus to maximize program impact and long-term institutional sustainability.


Required Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • Comparable experience managing an organization of similar size, preferably as the chief executive.
