Director of Development

Sisters of Mercy, West Midwest Community, Inc.


The Sisters of Mercy, West Midwest Community, Inc. (WMW), is one of six Communities that form the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, an international community of women religious.  The Director of Development will have responsibility for the design, implementation, oversight and evaluation of the WMW Community’s development program.  The Director of Development assists the leadership team with the implementation of the mission and direction identified by the Sisters of Mercy, both at the Community and Institute levels and exemplifies the values and goals of the organization at all levels of responsibility.


·         Demonstrated success in large gift solicitation (7 years) and in leading a development team Minimum of seven years of experience leading and directing development teams to higher levels of success is essential.  Experience in designing and implementing fund development programs, including planned giving is required. 

  • Strong ability to create and perform to measurable goals incorporating analytical skills and experience to create success within a complex and rapidly changing organization and development environment.
  • Ability to travel to attend Community and Institute meetings, meet with donors and Sisters of Mercy, Associates, and Companions, and staff located at other sites.


  • Master’s degree, CFRE and experience working for religious organizations preferred.
