“O Brother, Where Art Thou?” is the closest that the Coens have come to making a musical, and the film’s lush period folk soundtrack enriches its spiritual themes.
Pope Francis says that responses to climate change “have not been adequate.” This Earth Day, both clergy and laypeople must repent of our sins of omission and work toward decarbonization.
This week on “Jesuitical,” Zac and Ashley are joined by Megan Nix, the author of Remedies for Sorrow: An Extraordinary Child, a Secret Kept from Pregnant Women, and a Mother's Pursuit of the Truth.
As we grapple with fragmentation, political polarization and rising distrust in institutions, a national embrace of volunteerism could go a long way toward healing what ails us as a society.
Sent it out to everyone I know who is Catholic and a few others.
On the feast of St. Therese, I was at a Mass at a parish church. The priest related a story about St. Therese, about which I would like verification of the story:
St. Therese had "a Jesuit" spiritual director. She told him that she wanted to be a saint like Teresa of Avila. He told her not to pray for that purpose. She then told him that even Jesus said to be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect. Then he said, "Thank good she did not listen to that priest."
Did not Saint Teresa of Avila warn us not to pray for the gifts, which others receive or received?
JMJ and Saint Ignatius,
Loved the Mother Cabini mantra. :)
Loved the Mother Cabrini prayer, but I think you have a different version from mine: ''Mother Cabrini, don't be a meanie, find me a space in front of the place!'' And then you send her sisters $5 (or $10 if you are in Manhattan) if you find a space!
Thanks for all of your work. Best wishes,
Mary Kate
